More About Me

In addition to coaching, Heather is a mother of three: a recent college graduate (Wesleyan), a sophomore at Northeastern, and a sophomore in High School. She is a dedicated community member in her adopted hometown of Cambridge, MA, where she has organized local literary events and hosted creative writing workshops for teens.  

 

She is also a published poet and has received training on how to teach poetry from Boston University's Poetry Institute, among others.

Grub Street Writing Instructor 2022- Present

  • Teaching “Jumpstart Your Writing,” a generative creative writing class for adults (Fall 2023)

  • Designed, planned, and led two workshops for young adults on Ekphrastic Poetry (2017, 2022)

  • Developed and led six-week generative creative writing classes for adults (Summer 2022)

Snowden International School Writing Center Coordinator 2022-2023

  • Provided individualized college essay coaching to high school seniors in International Baccalaureate program

  • Designed and facilitated workshops on poetry translation and creative writing

  •  Planned, designed, and launched student publication

826 Boston Writers’ Room Coordinator 2018-2022

  • Coached 50+ students at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science with college essays

  • Designed and led lessons for the O’Bryant Creative Writing Club, Slam Poetry Club, and Drama Club.

  • Served as advisor for the student literary magazine from 2018 to 2022

  • Developed and facilitated professional writing workshops on resume and cover letter writing for high school students
